What's done is done:
A Book of Useful Flowers

by Alexandra Kalinicheva
Artist Alexandra Kalinicheva about her new book What's Done is Done
A Book of Useful Flowers:

There are a vast number of beautiful and useful plants around us, but we do not always know what is what. The author is not a botanist but rather a consumer and an enthusiast. Therefore, the classification of plants in this book is not scientific but practical. It would be wonderful if, when going to the forest, the mountains, or a grandmother’s garden, you could "recognize" what is growing and blooming around us. And, of course, learn how different herbs can be used.

The subtitle A Book of Useful Flowers does not quite accurately reflect the content from a technical point of view. However, it does remind us that flowers can not only be aesthetically pleasing but also useful. Interestingly, in the ignorance and curiosity of modern city dwellers about the properties of plants, there is a kind of mirroring of the process through which these plants became known in the first place. That is, their domestication was driven by their useful qualities and built upon them. But now, studying the properties of plants often begins with an interest in their appearance. Such is this reverse culture.
