Concert over landfill

Luv Toprak & Plastic Bakery, Mehdi Hesamizadeh
Just outside of Tumanyan, below the rock known as Avanakar, there is a big sad landfill. This is not an “official” landfill but a place where garbage has been dumped for years: sometimes truckloads full of construction waste but sometimes discarded household objects that no longer held value for their owners. Furniture, dishes, books, photos, toys, notebooks. Located right next to the town cemetery, Tumanyan’s landfill is also a resting place for discarded memories.

In the first days of spring, when the nature began to wake up to new life, Abastan artists Aleksandra Korolyova (Luv Toprak), Andrei Strizhkov (Plastic Bakery), and Mehdi Hesamizadeh organized a music event on the landfill to reflect on this place’s strange existence and its relationship to Tumanyan’s people and nature.
