VR Kobayr

by Andrei Andreich
An exciting fusion of technology and culture took place in Tumanyan. Andrey (@andre3vich), a talented VR developer, created a full 3D scan of Kobayr, capturing the monastery’s intricate architecture and spiritual atmosphere. His vision is to create a virtual Kobayr where visitors can explore using VR goggles.

But this wasn't just a simple virtual tour. Andrey suggested adding a layer of interactivity, such as a hidden object quest within the virtual Kobayr. There was an idea to craft a thoughtful and respectful narrative that would not only entertain but also educate visitors about Kobayr’s rich cultural and religious history.

To bring this idea to life, we hosted a week-long creative lab. The goal was to explore Andrey's 3D work, brainstorm ideas, and collaborate with experts. We reached out to historians and architects, including @barashkoolga, @piaiva, and even Ashik, who is directly involved in the physical reconstruction of Kobayr. Their insights were invaluable in ensuring the project remained authentic and historically accurate. Throughout the lab, we shared ideas, drafted storylines, and explored how to translate history into a virtual medium. The process was inspiring, blending traditional knowledge with cutting-edge technology.
